The first step in completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is obtaining a PIN. Both the student and a parent must have PIN to submit the FAFSA on-line. Even if the FAFSA is not filed on-line, a PIN is useful because it can be used to access and to correct processed FAFSA information later. The PIN can also be used to sign student loan applications, promissory notes, and other information electronically.
Students and/or parents can apply for a PIN by going to the PIN website: www.pin.ed.gov Please allow 4-6 weeks to receive PIN information in the mail. This is a permanent number and will be used by the student and/or parent for future FAFSA forms, loan applications. Etc; it should be file in a safe place for future use.
Parents with questions regarding the PIN application can contact Kathie Pontious, High School Counselor at 687-3306 during normal school hours.

The Meridian Public Schools and the Midland County Health Department are teaming up to offer a free, school based H1N1 flu vaccination clinic in all our schools on Tuesday, December 15th. On December 2nd, parents received an informational letter about the vaccination clinic that your child should have brought home from school. The letter also included a permission slip. A parent or guardian will be welcome to be present when your child is vaccinated and can also be vaccinated at that time.
Children under 10 years of age will require a second shot after 28 days and the signed permission slip will authorize the Health Department to administer the second shot. Times and dates for the second round of vaccinations are to be determined.
Even though cases of H1N1 have waned in recent weeks, the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention encourages parents to get their children vaccinated, as a second wave of the H1N1 flu is expected in the New Year and into the spring.
